12/27/2005 03:27:00 PM|||MarcieCrim||| The gift-giving holidays are over, right? Perhaps some of them are continuing, but the one I celebrate is over.
I made out well. I received $200 and used that money to buy other people presents. I also received silver heels to match my New Years Eve dress, cashmere socks, a coat, lots of chocolate, a wonderful book full of Bob Dylan lyrics and sketches, a book titled Ballet 101, and a bottle of champagne.
The real gifts however were the dinners I attended (cooked for one) and the people I spent my holiday with. Wrapping a 6-year-old's presents with much appreciated help was magical. And watching the people I love open their presents was my favorite moment.
And now that all of that has ended I am ready for New Years Eve. The alcohol is scheduled, the band is excited, the DJ is ready, decorations were bought last night...it's all coming together. Now all I need to do is figure out how to blow up about 300 balloons since no one seems to sell or rent air tanks, just helium. I don't need helium.
But my dress will look great, the guys from the Project will be in tuxes (God willing) and I've got a lot of help for decorating. I do believe this New Years Eve will be the best party Lexington has seen in years, or perhaps ever.
And did you know that they sell balloon drop bags for $2.99? There will be a balloon drop at midnight. I may be blue in the face on a respirator waiting in an emergency room, but the balloons will drop, hundreds of them, this I guarantee.
If I don't see you at the Downtown Arts Center on Saturday night I'll assume you're in a ditch somewhere weeping and wailing "Lexicon Project!" over and over. I want proof of a head wound however, that's the only excuse I'm taking.
